Re: [revival-fire] Thoughts on Being Filled

******* REVIVAL FIRE!!! *******

Wow Bob, that message on being filled to overflowing really 'hit the spot.' I gathered several precious nuggets from those thoughts. Thank you!

I have been a Christian for 32 years now, but only since 1994 have I known that there was "more."
Being saved in 1976 and attending a typical Penecostal church of the time, I thought being a believer and attending church consisted of...
Attending church regularly...
Listening on Sundays to the spiritual food that the Lord showed the pastor that week...
Reading the Bible when I could...
Giving...
Supporting the programs that the church offered...
Enjoying the frequent pot luck dinners...etc.

These are not bad things...but I found out that there was more! More?? How could there be?
Well, when my pastor of the Vineyard church I was now attending took a trip to Toronto in 1994 to check out what was "going on up there," I found out there was indeed "more." When he got back and testified that he was "stuck to the floor for 3 hours" under the power of God and that God did some big inner healing on him, things began to happen in our "regular" church services. I saw people shaking, laughing and all kinds of things I never had seen before. Then, something weird happened to me! I was just "minding my own business" worshipping God when I started feeling peace very strongly. Soon after worship and the service was over, I realized I could not talk very well and I was "all wobbly." People were laughing at me but I didn't care for some reason. Then someone said "He's acting drunk!" Drunk?? In church? All I know is that I later fell outside on the cement sidewalk and the assistant pastor had to put me in the passenger seat of my car and my wife drove us home. I was spoken about during the next Sunday service about this "new thing" God was doing. I had found that there was more...

Since that time God has expanded in my life with dreams, visions, miracles, healings, prophetic experiences, transportation in the spirit, signs, wonders and more. Yes, there was indeed more!
One time Bob, I responded to an altar call by you in Mariposa California at pastor Henry Falany's church around 2002. As I came up front, it felt like I walked through a spiritual curtain of glory where you were ministering. I immediately became very drunk in the Spirit and I fell down in the middle of the aisle where you were preaching. I could not get up feeling very heavy and I remember you saying "You better get comfortable, you're not going anywhere for a while." I spent the whole service at your feet unable to get back to my seat while you gave the message that night. The next day during the morning service I got a piece of gold on my hand which I showed you. Then...on the way home me and my friend were transported in the Spirit as we drove home losing a full 45 minutes of time off our trip! We made it to church that night on time and testified as to what God had done on that trip. God then proceeded to break out in that service too!

Like I said earlier, I picked up some neat 'nuggets' out of your thoughts on being filled and here is one of several that spoke to me. #6 on tongues really encouraged me. One time during a really anointed prayer service I was involved in, I had something happen that was unusual (probably should be more usual). A friend of mine was going around the room praying for people in tongues. The Lord spoke to me to go around with him as he went and act as his "interpreter." I stepped out in faith and we had a powerful time in the Spirit with words of knowledge, healings and more as a result as I interpreted to English what he was saying. But for some reason I had never thought to practice that in my personal prayer time as you have taught. I guess I have subconsciously thought that was just an anointed service and a special thing to do for that night.

Thank you for those great tips which I look forward to putting into practice. Right now I am really hungry for insights that will increase intimacy with the Lord. I know every thing else flows out of that! Bless you Bob and I look for more postings from you and others on how they get close to the Lord and into His presence! Dale

Here are a Few Thoughts on Being Filled To Overflowing

Bob

1.  Make sure the Holy Spirit is your personal friend.  Romans 8:11 is very important.  "But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you."

Does the Holy Spirit abide, dwell, make His home in you and have a warm friendly relationship with you?  Verse 11 says, "if"  He is speaking to Christians.  Holy Spirit is a real person.  Don't ignore him.  He wants to be your best friend (along with the Father and the Son).  He is enormously powerful and loving.

As you read the Scriptures take time to meditate on passages that have special meaning to you.

2.  Have a pen and paper beside your bed all the time.  When you get up in the morning, write down briefly one or two of your dreams, no matter how silly, as soon as you wake up.  This will bring a strong prophetic flow in your life and you will learn the language of the Holy Spirit – dreams, symbols, pictures, visions, word and intimacy.

3.  Pray Ephesians 1:17 daily with expectation.  "…the God of our Lord Jesus Christ the father of Glory, may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in knowing Him…"

He will answer this prayer and show you wonderful and amazing things.

Remember God's phone number – Jeremiah 33:3   "Call to me and I'll answer you and show you many amazing powerful things that you don't know"!  The Lord has a huge number of revelations He wants to give you.

4.  Have a time of thanks.  Give many thanks to God – verbal and out loud - each day.
The Bible tells us to "watch over your prayers with thanksgiving."  Do you know what that means?  It means that if you are asking God for anything – watch over that request.  How?  With thanksgiving!  Let's say you are praying for your mother's health or well being.  Well then, watch over that prayer by thanking God for everything good about your Mom that you can think of – every day!  Thank Him for her intellect, her education, her memory, her skill, her prayers, her motherhood, her friends, etc.  This does amazing things.

The Bible says, even commands us, "in everything give thanks".  This is not just a nice suggestion.  It is a key to being filled with the Holy Spirit.  Spend actual time each day in thanking God, verbally and out loud.  For example:

"God, my dear Father, thanks so much for my friends, my car, my business, and my parents.  Thanks so much for where I live and for the giftings and anointings you have given me!"

That brings us to the next step in being thoroughly filled with and walking in the Spirit.

5.  Praise.  Have an actual praise time each day.  Make it verbal, spoken and heartfelt.  Praise is different than thanksgiving.  Praise is telling God how good, how great and how wonderful He is.  For example, you can take 10 minutes and say to God, "You are holy.  You are powerful.  You are the mighty God, counselor, Lamb of God, Prince of Peace, Savior.  You are love personified.  You are so kind and merciful, I love you and bless and honor you.  Your name is above every name."   Etc, etc.

6.  Tongues.  Take actual time each day to pray out loud in tongues.  Pray with faith, enthusiasm, exuberance, joy and reverence. Take intervals during this time to interpret into your mother tongue what you've been saying in your prayer language.  Simply do this by faith.  This brings revelation, freedom and personal upbuilding.

Besides this specific time, you can continuously pray in tongues as you go about your daily routines.  But don't just pray mindlessly.  Pray with expectation that it will bring tenderness towards Jesus and intimacy and enjoyment with Him.  Expect it will bring an enormous amount of revelation and a thoroughly spirit – filled supernatural day.  Remember, a day without miracles is a boring day.  My final point is the following.

7.  Cultivate ever-growing, ever-increasing intimacy. This means you share your heart with the Holy Spirit (and with Jesus and the father.)  Remember as you relate to one, you relate to and have intimacy with all.  Share your thoughts, your weaknesses, your frailty, your failures, your dreams and your hopes and desires.  Then listen.  Listen to His heart.  Say, "Father, what's uppermost in your heart right now?  What hurts your heart?  What do you most want to share with me right now? How do you feel, Father, about abortion in our city?  How do you feel about the poor and the addicted in our city?  Then, once you have conversed and shared your hearts together, then get real silent.  Be very still.  ("Be still and know that I am God.")   Begin to see His shimmering, shiny, Shekinah glory cloud come into the room.  It surrounds and saturates you.  It is the very presence of the Father's Spirit filling you with Himself and his powerful anointing.  Try to spend at least 15 minutes to begin with, in this attitude, just receiving.

As you do these things, you will notice a change.  Don't expect instantaneous results.  Measure it over a number of months.  You will find you are a changed person.  You will find that you will begin to have a flood of revelations from the father and a heartfelt mutual friendship.  You'll find, too , that the supernatural explodes in your day-to-day life.

QUESTIONS  FOR BOB

What is the basis for a relationship with the Holy Spirit ? separate from Jesus and the Father  ?

How is the Holy Spirit a "personal friend" ? what is the scriptural basis of this concept ?

Do we talk to the Spirit and pray to the Spirit ?

What is the basis for intimacy with the Spirit ? verses Jesus/Father ?

Has the language below has moved from a trinity descriptive language about ONE true God and moved to 3 Gods and 3 persons….and then mixed in small "s" spirit scripture passages?

How does John 14:23 work into this matter.  It would seem that the role of the Holy Spirit is being confused with the "person" of the spirit. See John 13 and 14.

ANSWERS

The relationship with Holy Spirit is not seperate. It is never seperate. ..that's why I sais "along with ( together with) the Father and Son"  When we relate to one we relate to all.  eg if I talk to Jesus I talk to the father and Holy Spirit too!!!  They're one. All can hear me.  One member isn't insulted or left out if we speak to the other,The protocol though is Holy Spirit defers to and seeks to "make real" the other two members.

The personal friend aspect of Holy Spirit is because He has all the attributes of personality..i.e.  can be grieved,, can make decisions.can speak to us.can love etc.  All this is scriptural.  He is not an impersonal force.  Of course He is a personal friend.  First of all He is a person.  Secondly He is not an enemy. He loves us and actually communicates with us.( it is..the "communion" of the Holy Spirit...  Greek word" Koinenia"  meaning joint participation...mutual sharing.)
So intimacy with Holy spirit is not versus Jesus/Father...because when you relate to one you relate to all.  It's not an  entirely seperate experience.

It's interesting ...look at 3 people.  John Arnott, Benny Hinn ,  Heidi Baker..   John  emphasizes  The Father.  Benny emphasizes the Holy Spirit  ie  Good morning holy spirit  BUT he doesn't neglect the centrality of Jesus...(neither does John Arnott)  because thats the role of Holy Spirit ..to make Jesus real
I would be suspect of any man who only talkes of Holy Spirit and never mentioned Jesus.
Heidi is very Jesus Oriented.  So what?  When they relate to one they relate to all.

Re John 14: 23
I agree the role of the PERSON of holy Spiit is to Make Jesus real and glorious.  That doesn't however rule out the FACT that a person (Holy Spirit) lives and DWELLS inside christians. (Don't ignore or neglect Him)  So we relate personally and intimately in private with the Holy Spirit but publically and corporately we emphasize the centrality and Supremacy of Jesus.  e.g.  When I say " Spirit of the Livivg God thanks for living in me"  I'm communicating with the Father and the Son too.  They are one.

Feedback please.if you have time
Love---Jesus Style!
