Re: [revival-fire] Learning from Todd Bentley about surviving Media Slams

******* REVIVAL FIRE!!! *******

I am elated by your post Julia. I too know there are reports out there
and I really would like to encourage those who carry them to please
submit them. I know there are even physicians who are carrying a higher
call to the purposes of God in this generation who would be willing to
stand out as those who are declaring healings. I think of a recent
Florida doctor who say someone raised from the dead after he prayed. If
we as believers don't want to shout from the rooftops and give honor to
Jesus, I think our "healings" are suspect. Biblically, testimony always
followed healing... I personally believe that you hit the mark on this
report about the Media. John Wimber experienced that years ago and
learned that they can "come observe" ... but interviews always ended up
a mess. I learned that the hard way myself in my first church plant. I
was misquoted and made to look like an idiot who didn't understand the
things happening in the world. I don't give press interviews unless I
have FIRST checked out the interviewer and the INTENT of the
interviewer. Anyone can see the "interviews" I went through after my two
abducted daughters were returned to me after 6 years. I only gave 2
interviews... everyone else (including CNN, NBC and local affiliates
that wanted me to interview) had to go listen to those interviews to
"quote me".... indeed one person who wanted to interview me during that
time had already come to personal conclusions about this "pastor" and
would end up writing a horrible article...albeit without my involvement
in it. I always think it's best to NOT give interviews. Jesus NEVER gave
an interview... The Disciples didn't.... If the media wants to "report"
and that is what they are called to do, not judge, not color, not
influence, they can become "witnesses" like everyone else....

I so love what God has been doing through Todd and am hopeful for great
encouragment, refreshment, wisdom, and zeal to step back into what God
is releasing through his life!

BTW ... I think we should commission you to be the "Official 'Revival'
Press" person. I do trust what I have heard coming from you! Blessings.
