Revival, Renewal, and Refreshing! What is The River? The River is an experimental, multi-sensory worship experience that seeks to offer worshipers a safe space to explore their bodies, emotions, and spirits in relation to the Divine.
What happens at The River? From 5:30-6:30 we are encouraged to create a unique worship setting for the evening together. Some bring items to decorate the altar or the worship space. Others bring offerings of food and drink to share with the Divine and the community. As the worship space is created we also consecrate the space to be a sacred space where others can experience God. (Suggestions for music and pictures for the sideshow are also encouraged.)
From 6:45-8:45 we begin to worship and commune with the divine and each other. Some sit quietly with their eyes closed, others dance, some light candles, some weep, others chat and sip wine with friends, a few even reach states of spiritual ecstasy. Everyone is encouraged to seek his or her own unique experience.
How can I contribute to The River? Discover, develop and share your own gifts and loves. Play an instrument, tell a story, smash a watermelon, teach a dance, offer a prophetic word, bake a cookie, light a candle, rest a while, be anointed with oil, the sky is the limit!
