It is well with my soul

 

Tho the seas may billow and roll.  Tho the mountainous waves threaten to flatten me to nothing

It seems as if the Lord Himself has blown upon the waves to wash away anything built by man-made hands, anything that will not withstand the storm sent by the adversary.

 No matter what tsunami is headed my way, I have learned to say "It is well with my soul"!  I have learned that I have a choice, Do I accept sorrow and suffering as teachers and helpers?  Do I let the Lord turn them to Joy and Peace? Or do I try, as I often have before to do all things on my own.

 

It seems that no matter what the circumstance, no matter what the blow, No matter what a loved one does that looks like rejection and abandonment. The answer is still to declare; yes you guessed it "It is well with my soul"

 

I have, I hope permanently, given up trying to fix my life and the relationships I am in.

The truth is, nothing seemed to effect a permanent change in very trying relationships

and situations, anyway!  I have put on the altar my hopes, my dreams, all the promises of the Lord, to be burned in the fire of His choosing and I wait upon Him to see what remains.

 

All things are in His hands, finally, absolutely, I have realized the futility of trying to keep them in mine. I cannot bear the weight anymore, and I was never meant to carry it on my own, anyhow.  I remember praying and asking God to teach me to love unconditionally.  What a loaded prayer that was!  It seems that all of these storms are having His perfect work in my life and the flesh is being crucified, bit by bit.

As I look about at the storms that are rolling thru my life, our state, our nation.  I tremble.

And yet, again.  "It is well with my soul" Is well with the souls of all those who call our Savior by name! He is the author and finisher of our faith!  He will take all of our choices, the good and the bad and, if we allow Him to do so, make them a path way to freedom, to Joy for all of us, individually and corporately.  We need not be in fear.  We need not cower or rant and rave at circumstances!  We need to look to the one who is Love and let Him teach us to love unconditionally, unreservedly and passionately all those who are still in bondage, redeemed and as yet, unredeemed.  Nothing is too hard for Him, even bringing good out of the bad choices we make.  There is nothing in our nation to hard for our Lord to work His healing touch in and thru.  Let us do our part, let us follow after Him passionately and whole heartedly.  One of the first promised I received from the Lord was that I would seek Him and find Him when I searched with my whole heart.  I have come to realize that it was not an attitude of giving it everything "I got" but rather a yielding and letting Him take out everything that I "got" and replacing it with His heart of unconditional love.  And for our nation, for us as the body of Christ, this is what is required of us in this intense season we are now in.  We must give up everything, our rights, our pride, our preconceived notions and our pre-judgments and ask God to replace them with everything that is only of Him!!  It is time for all or nothing.  How do you vote?
