[revival-fire] Spare change evangelism - coins open doors...

We've all been asked probably several times "Do you have any spare change?" At some point it may become irritating as it was to me about a year ago when I was going shopping at Walmart - I walked past a woman on my way to the door and she asked for spare change and I looked her in the eye and said "No." I took no more than two steps and Holy Spirit stopped me dead in my tracks and told me to go back and give her some money. Which I did, then I asked her if she knew Jesus, which she didn't, so I began to tell her how much God loved her, told her about Jesus' redemptive plan, etc. To make a story short I was able to lead her to Jesus - she wept - I was humbled and ashamed of my initial coldness. God showed me that when you give someone money, and maybe just some coins, that they are usually so appreciative that they'll give you a few minutes of their time - in a sense you've purchased some of their space. Since then I've not resented but rather looked forward to hearing that request so I can buy some of their time to share Jesus or just pray with them. Last evening I was approached by a young man named Daniel, again at Walmart, great mission field, who asked the question. I gave him some change and he smiled and said most people were too cold to give him anything which humbled me when I remembered my pre-spare change ministry days :-)

I was able to share Jesus with him; his name Daniel which I told him had great meaning and to read the book if he could, that God had a future and hope for him, and shared God's plan of salvation with him. I then prayed that Holy Spirit would not give him rest until he accepted Jesus as Lord of his life.

I love being used by God and reaching out to the lost as most of us do - I just wanted to share whats been a great tool in my life...and it will only co$t you some spare change, some love and a little bit of time!!!

Hello Folks,

Wow! What a week! It has been crazy around here as people from all over have contacted us to lend their support. The local groups have been absolutely amazing. This morning one group dropped off 440 brand new blankets for us to take to the people in Sichuan. In local terms, that kind of support is amazing, especially when you consider that people are being squeezed from all sides to give, and have given to the relief effort. We have received cash donations of more than $2000USD from local small groups and friends. Though they have seen nothing in additional support for the people of Sichuan and the work we hope to do there, Far Reaching Ministries has covered the cost of moving the supplies we gather and the purchase of $4000USD in medical supplies. We stepped out, kinda way out, in faith and the boss has provided. There is more work on the horizon. I was a bit worried but as things have come together and amounts jibe with need I have no choice but to forget worrying about how the boss is going to do all that He has set before us. Instead, I need to just keep my eyes focused on Him and allow him to do what he desires both in and through me and the rest of the team. I am already blown away but what I see.

I donâ€™t know how to say this so that it doesnâ€™t sound like bragging or something like that but one thing that the amount of local support that we are seeing is the faith that people have put in us. I guess I just want you to know that we, you and I, all of us together have a solid reputation among the people here. If you thought Americans were cynical, we donâ€™t hold a candle to the Chinese. For them to simply hand us supplies and send us on our way is phenomenal. It speaks to the efforts of those that live here and have visited. I am so blessed to see that kind of trust extended to us. I know that is a boss thing. I am grateful that we have not blown it so badly that people refuse to work with us. On top of that is the spectrum of traditions that have come together behind this thing. It is amazing. Please keep us lifted that we can maintain that kind of support and that we would not do anything to tarnish what people see in us as individuals and an organization.

Our plan is that I will fly back to Chengdu Saturday night. I need time to get the beds and bedding into the apartment. I think with bunk beds in all rooms that we can sleep 12 very comfortably. If we add pads on the floor we can probably sleep 16, at least for a bit, without problems. In addition to beds I will be crawling through the second hand shops to find other things. The biggest items will be a refrigerator and a washing machine. The team will follow me up and be there around 3am on Tuesday. The truck will have been loaded and on the road by Monday evening.

Please lift up the truck and driver. We have been cautioned by the Red Cross to make sure we have a reputable driver and company. We think we do. We were also encouraged to send a chase car or at least send someone with the load. We are lifting that up. I donâ€™t know who I would send. If Iâ€™m sending someone for the sake of security then the only one I would send would be me with a big stick. As a USMC alumnus, I know 10 ways to kill with a pocket comb. Da Xing Xing, it means gorilla in Chinese and is my nick name, with a big stick practically guarantees that we wonâ€™t be molested. If things are so bad that I have to send someone, I donâ€™t know who I would put in that kind of situation. Please lift this up. We have been lifting here and I havenâ€™t been able to make a decision yet.

Please lift up the folks that are on the ground in Chengdu. They have been hard at it since the first day. The situation and the kind of help the people need changes almost daily. Right now one of the major concerns has become the dams weakened by the quake and rock slides that have dammed portions of the river. Those rock slide dams are weak and the lakes that are forming behind them are swallowing villages and threaten to burst those earthen dams. Preparations are being made to move 1.5 million people out of the valleys below the dams. I donâ€™t know how that will increase the ranks of 5 million already homeless but it must be significant.

I wish I could impress upon everyone the suffering that we have seen and level of the disaster. It would be like trying to describe the Grand Canyon. Everyone has seen a canyon. The Grand Canyon is a canyon but itâ€™s more than just a really really big canyon. I can describe it all day but until you stand on the rim of that magnificent hole you just canâ€™t understand how big it really is. I think that this quake and the damage it has left behind, and the damage the aftershocks continue to do, is a lot like that. It is almost impossible to understand the scope of things unless you are standing in the midst of it.

I have traveled from one side of the area affected; from South to North on the Eastern side of the epicenter and the destruction is nearly total from Dujiangyan to Mianyang. Mile after mile along main roads we saw buildings either toppled or clearly so damaged that they could not be occupied. The construction changes from concrete and brick to wood and stone or wood and clay in the hills around major cities. These areas are nothing but piles of rubble and splintered wood. Close to the cities, people have stayed near their homes in makeshift shelters. Family from the cities have joined them. From the mountains around major cities, people have walked eight, ten, twelve hours to reach refugee camps, leaving behind their possessions and those that could not travel or be carried on someoneâ€™s back.

It breaks my heart to read some of the internet responses and statements people have made about what is happening here. Some have been so gross as to suggest that this nation deserved what happened on May 12^th. I donâ€™t know if they are saying things for their shock value or they really feel that way. I donâ€™t know how anyone could say something so horrible in light of the suffering that I have seen. I canâ€™t even imagine what it must be like for the people Dujiangyan to have stand helpless in the aftermath and know that 1000 of their children and teachers lie crushed, lifeless under the rubble of their school. Forgive me, but these are not two dimensional images on a screen to me. They are people. They are not representative of a political or economic ideology. They are men, women and children suffering through one of the most devastating natural events in modern history. Shame on those that would write or utter the hateful and horrible things that I have read.

Please keep this nation and its leaders lifted as they seek the best way to respond to the mass of humanity suffering through this time. Please lift up those that have lost loved ones and those who will continue to loose loved ones to injuries that will not heal. Please lift up the children that have been orphaned. Please lift up those children that have yet to be reunited with their families. Please lift up the millions in camps that they would safe from disease. Please lift up those of us doing relief work, that we would be effective and kept safe. Please lift up that doors would remain open for us to take the good news to those that need to hear. Please lift up the needs and ask the boss how you or your local group can be involved in what is happening here, not only immediately but in the long term as well. Please lift up the team: Dan, Daniel, Melody, Bea, Mr. Li, Aaron, Alice, Kristin, Ms. Chang, Rachel and me. Please lift up Operation light and John and Bob. Please lift up those holding down the fort at OFH: Trudy, Rudy, Forrest, Jason, Abel, James, Utah, Asia and Meagan. Please lift up teams from Macau and Japan that are joining the effort. Please thank the boss for all those locally and stateside through which the boss has made provision. Thank you for keeping us lifted.

Iâ€™ve said this before but I am reminded now most especially of Napoleonâ€™s observation that that armies move on their stomachs. Last night we had a pretty big show at the club. During the night a few of the staff brought in this girl who was totally being tormented by demons and just completely shut down by fear. We were praying for her and talking her through all the confusion that has set in for years of oppression when some guy ran up to the room. He was sweaty and completely flustered with wide eyes. He ran up to the doorway of the spiritual readings room and told us "DUDE! I just had a vision while I was dancing in the mosh pit! Jesus is here man! This stuff is real!" HAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHA

That's my Jesus : )

Wow, I read Matt’s posting before going to work this morning. All the way to work I kept hearing the Fire purifies and the Rain brings life! I have seen the fields you were talking about, the fire cleans the dross and chaff away, it makes the ground more fertile to accept the seed and the rain. Once the rain comes the seed becomes a mighty living thing that brings more life as a result. The tree gives the air we breathe and fruit we eat, same with the rice on the altar that Family Christian Center has seen as a prophecy. It perpetuates itself, life gives way to life…. It is the rain that brings it all together… Bring the rain Lord, send the rain, let it rain…

I like what you wrote Matthew Oliver. I would add to it that both must come and both have a purpose, although as you well put most people seem to have a knack to stop at the fire and miss the rain. In the end they get tired too: Charlie Brown in his peanuts wisdom sat by the fire and said I like watching the fire ... but the program is quite always the same.

The fire is a breakthrough, a starting point and then comes the rain, and in between sowing. I grew up in the country and saw this done many times: the fields were set on fire which cleaned it, and produced some acid substances good for the soil. It was awesome to see the snakes! Snakes have one of two reactions to fire they either “run” away with all their might in whichever direction, or they stand against and fight the flames trying to bite them, obviously they get barbecued quite fast. What a figure, and that is what the fire does!

The devil in all his millennia of existence has not yet learnt how to react to the fire of God! Hallelujah! Run, baby, run!

Then the seed was sown.

And then rain made the seed produce.

Back to Elijah, he must have read 2 Ch 7:13-14

13 When I shut up heaven and there is no rain, or command the locusts to devour the land, or send pestilence among My people,

14 if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.

The lack of rain was a result of people having lost their connection with the source. It is not one sin that causes the rain to stop, we are weak and we sin all the time, but we have an advocate with the Father so we may come to Him and receive grace; it is not that kind of situation that stops the rain, it is rather our stubbornness in believing that we know better than God and end up disconnecting from Him. God’s complaint against the people was not one or two sins but “their wicked WAYS”. It is about time that the church realizes that our ways will not take us to the place of blessing.

Elijah’s “contest” (it was not a contest actually cuz the winner was set) with Baal’s prophets simple served the purpose of bringing cleansing, establishing the “who’s who” in the kingdom, and RECONNECTING with the source of their blessing from which they had wandered away.

And then when this reconnection took place, rain followed, and heavens were opened and there was food.

However, God sent rain but it rained water, it did not rain seed!

The result of the rain was new life to the land and the seed that was planted at some point produced fruit.

That’s revival.

Me thinks.

So what’s the seed? The Word? The teaching? Your money?

Fire hits a local spot! Rain saturates a region!

What Elijah experienced on the mountain top, the whole region experienced when the rain came!

When the rain comes everyone benifits from the outpouring.

It is not contained. It saturates all!

I have seen and experienced the FIRE! But i want the promise of the COMING RAIN!

The word says that he will pout out the Former and the Later rain together! Yes!

Then He says that in the season of the RAIN - Cry out for RAIN! because there is MORE!

I want to see the glory of the Lord saturate this LAND!

I will not be appeased by the FIRE! I want the Promise of the LORD in its fullness!

We so often get sidetracked by the WOW of God, and stop short of the fullness! I have seen the WOW - but I want MORE!

I want the PROMISE!

Let's pursue together! Let's cry out for rain!

Last night at Family Christian Center, with the youth and young adults, and the very hungry, we felt the rain of the glory.

It was like liquid Glory falling down!

There were healings - a back was completely straightened out. A broken Finger was completely healed, the bruising and the swelling gone, knees were healed, where someone couldn't even bend them before!

And the glory was present. Hearts were being healed, love was flowing. The power was there! And we want MORE!

Let us pursue together and not lose site of the fullness of the promises of God! Let us not be so easily appeased. Let us not be so easily satisfied.

I love miracles, but I want to see the miraculous

I love the fire, but I want the Rain

I love the encounters, but I long for transformation

I can’t wait to get to heaven, but I long for heaven to come to earth!

Oh – that we would stay passionate and pursue the MORE of God!

Thankyou Jesus, may The Shepherd, The Lord, return HIS lost sheep to safe pastures. Too often have believers felt judged at supposedly safe pastures.

We must remember that while tending THE LORD'S pastures they are HIS pasture. Family Christian Center is a safe pasture, THE LORD'S well tended

pasture, in JESUS name may all HIS pastures be safe and well tended. Amen.

So last night we had a concert at Club Retro...a band called Demon Hunter and another band called Living Sacrifice headlined it. I was in the smoking section and was able to spark some conversation with some folks. As I did God began to pour out!!

There was a Pastor from a Lutheran Church in Livermore, Ca. who brought his teen son there with some of his friends. We started talking and he asks me, "How would I start something like this at my church?" I gave him this warning, "You will probably loose some church members!" Then he said..."I don't care, I want to bring what you guys have here to Livermore! Tears started forming in his eyes and he said, "When I arrived on your campus, I started to feel the presence of God so strongly! I called my wife to let her know that I understand why I was brought out here tonight. We have to bring this back to Livermore!"

HOW AWESOME IS THAT!!! I told him about our Spiritual Readings room and some incredible God stuff that has been happening here and hunger started rising up in this man!

Also talked to another man from Stockton. He also was wandering about doing something like this in his hometown. We had some interesting converstation and he is going to try to bring Consecrated out.

There was a young man who I kept talking to throughout the night and as opportunity arose, I began to bring God and church in the conversation. He politely turned down the conversation several times and begin to talk about his "dislike" for church and religion. About an hour later, we started talking again and one of our other security gaurds came over and they knew each other from High School. Our security gaurd, Chris, began to share all of the God things that have happened in his life and this young man said, "I'll come to church just because you say its cool Chris!"

Praise God!!!

Thankyou Jesus, may The Shepherd, The Lord, return HIS lost sheep to safe pastures. Too often have believers felt judged at supposedly safe pastures.

We must remember that while tending THE LORD'S pastures they are HIS pasture. Family Christian Center is a safe pasture, THE LORD'S well tended

pasture, in JESUS name may all HIS pastures be safe and well tended. Amen.

[revival-fire] Amazing!!!!

So last night we had a concert at Club Retro...a band called Demon Hunter and another band called Living Sacrifice headlined it. I was in the smoking section and was able to spark some conversation with some folks. As I did God began to pour out!!

There was a Pastor from a Lutheran Church in Livermore, Ca. who brought his teen son there with some of his friends. We started talking and he asks me, "How would I start something like this at my church?" I gave him this warning, "You will probably loose some church members!" Then he said..."I don't care, I want to bring what you guys have here to Livermore! Tears started forming in his eyes and he said, "When I arrived on your campus, I started to feel the presence of God so strongly! I called my wife to let her know that I understand why I was brought out here tonight. We have to bring this back to Livermore!"
