So I am sitting at work and I get called to the front office to translate for a spanish speaking patient who came showed up at the front office. He was holding some forms in his hand, he had no clue what they were for, he did not appear to be in any physical pain, maybe he just needed direction to find his doctor's office?
After looking at his forms I asked him if he needed help filling them out, he said said yes, he did not know how to read, write, or speak english. It was a challenge to fill out these forms, since he could not read, he did not know his address, he did not know his date of birth, he said: "I think I am thirty.... something?"
After we were finished I walked him over to the clinic where he needed to go. As we walked he started to tell me how he immigrated from Central America, the country of El Salvador (that name translates to The Savior), he began to desperately describe the tooth ache that he had, he could not stand it, there would be times where he could not tolerate putting food in his mouth, he kept going,... it took him 3 months to get from his country to the US, he had to walk a total of 15 days, leaving his family back home, to come to the so called "Land of Opportunities" to live off a $500/month wage. By this time his eyes were watering. I just wanted to pray for him but I hesitated to interrupt him,... so that opportunity was gone.
I knew he had to return because the clinic dentist was out. So the next day he returns and is asking for me, on our walk over to the clinic, he told me how he was not able to sleep because of that pain. He said that in his country when someone dies they place pine tree branches around the cadaver, he said that over the night he could smell pine trees as if death was on its way, his eyes were watery red, I asked him if I could pray for him, he said YES! I put my hand on him and began to pray for him... not wondering or questioning if anything would happen,... just knowing that we have a big GOD and he will take care of his children.
Blessed to see God's heart move!!!!
