We keep saying revival is going to look different this time. Well, okay, but all I know is that I miss the passion. The young adults have the passion. I read it in their words on Revival Fire, and I see it in their wonderful, crazy dancing in church. I'm not giving up on the passion, so night after night I seek the touch of the Holy Spirit once again.
So I came hungry again tonight. Decided to not come forward when Matt called everyone out of their seats. Spirit said He had something to say to me. So I stayed put. When the music started up again, I entered in, caught up, soaking in. And I asked the Spirit again. "Where are you? Why am I not hearing from you?" And He said "Listen!" It was really, really loud, and all the sounds ran together. What was I supposed to listen to? He said "listen to each sound." You twenty-somethings don't know that the older you get, the harder it is to separate sounds (-: , so I really had to concentrate.
Matt was singing "Awake – Spirit within – Awake." And the Holy Spirit said to me "That's My Voice!" Siobhan was singing a heartcry without words. The Spirit said "That's My Voice!" A lady behind me cried out in tongues. And the Spirit said "That's My Voice!" A soft and spontaneous harmony was coming from the worship team. Some really, really young ones were giggling. The Spirit said "That's My Voice!" A groan rose up from somewhere deep inside me (like Romans 8:26) and came out like a loud shout. And the Spirit said "That's My Voice!"
He said "The passion has never left you. It has settled deep inside. Many of you have already received the anointing. I am giving it new to the young ones. All the power, all the passion has settled deep within those who have already received, and who have remained faithful. You are all vessels of My Presence. I have gifted you – use your gifts! I have given you discernment – use that discernment! I have given you power – use the power! You can fall and rest if you want, but then I want you to STAND. Rally around my Son! He is your Bridegroom, and you are my Beloved. You are not to be weak and needy any more. You are needed by ME!"
And then Marguerite got up and gave the word she had received about the glowing that she had seen in a vision. It wasn't shining on the people, it was coming from them! We are commissioned as vessels of the Holy Spirit! We carry His Presence! Can we accept that commission? What an Honor! What a Joy! What Passion!
