[revival-fire] homeless & more

******* REVIVAL FIRE!!! *******    

Today in our ministry school, we  went out and did a homeless outreach. Our commision was to hand out bag lunches and some socks and just minister where there was an opening....

 

I think the thing I learned the most was surroundings. I watched the business suited people walking by not making eye contact - probably for fear of being sucked in by the need.

 

I saw people all going about their business. I had one kid ask if I knew where any nice people hung out. He was homeless and with his dog. He was beat up - you could see it in his face. He just wanted to know 'where the nice people were'.

 

There was so much more that happened, but the need I saw was for more than food or shelter. It was for people to just love on them and show them that they had worth. It had little to do with hitting them on the head with a Bible or their need for salvation.

 

That is the most striking thing learned. That they just want to be loved. A forgotten people, just walked by - as if they were a tree or car - instead of a hurting and needing person.

 

My heart is broken....
