In the old westerns, the sheriff would go out after the bad guys, and they'd have a shoot-out in the streets. When he went on the attack, he'd call to his deputies "Cover me!" And they would hold off the enemy so the sheriff could get through.
For years, front-running Christian organizations have been battling on the political front like lone sheriffs. Much work was accomplished with very little intercession. I know – I was one of them. We would make great strides educating the church. But in most cases, it was all work and no prayer.
(Please understand - by using the word "political," I'm refering to those powers who have the legal platform to control our families and our children.)
About 10 years ago, in the beginnings of the revival movement, things shifted. Intercession rose up across the nation. People like me, battle-weary on the political front, went from being in front of groups and microphones, to being on our knees. We began to "cover" the front-runners. So much was accomplished in the heavenlies that we couldn't even see. Now I believe we are being called to a greater battle, and on both fronts. But everyone is weary, and especially in the state of
Thank God for the younger generation who are being so incredibly impassioned for Jesus. We need your energy and your passion. "The Call," and Lou Engles' endeavors are the closest thing we have so far battling both fronts. But while the revival is bringing massive healings, amazing miracles, and thousands of hearts turning to Jesus, do we really know what kind of battle we're in?
Yes I know about all the governmental prayer meetings – thank God for them. Saturday mornings all over the county, several mornings in the state capitol. Bigger regional gatherings at different times. Every one of them claims major breakthrough. But I'm so troubled in my heart. The enemy's camp is stealth and has managed to take over our state in spite of all the prayer.
So while we're engaged in doing the Main Thing – bringing people to Jesus, and prophesying and healing – how do we balance revival with our responsibility to our families and our future? Our responsibility to publicly denounce the enemy and stand firm for righteousness? Yes, I know the idea is to bring ALL people into revival - including our legislators. But they live in a different world than we do. With few exception, their ears are closed and their eyes are clouded. The enemy is thick in the halls of the govenment; he has established a fortress there. And from that fortress he is proclaiming curses on our children and raising havoc and confusion in our schools and public places.
But God is greater. What would happen if the army of the Lord woke up and directed thier swords against the Great Deciver? As I said – I'm battle-weary. I'll continue this later, so this post doesn't get so long no one will read it!
