Greetings!
My Precious Brothers & Sisters:
I have read all of the messages going back and forth - and not just on this list - about the word released recently (just one of many) speaking gloom and doom for California and the Bay Area, and I can't remain silent any longer.
What is Prophecy?
The gift of prophecy is a supernatural utterance in a known tongue. It is the God-given ability to give forth, in your own language, a message direct from the heart of God. The Greek word that is translated prophecy means: "to speak for another." It means to speak for God or be His spokesperson. This is a VERY IMPORTANT POINT to keep in mind, particularly in the matter of these words of doom and gloom.
As a prophetic minister, I understand the magnitude of releasing words to individuals or into the body - something I do not take lightly, since the prophetic word actually shapes the destiny of a life, or even a nation! However, as Greg said, we have to measure everything by the Word (Bible). What does the Word say about a person who speaks a prophecy? Let's look: "... one who prophesies strengthens others, encourages them, and comforts them." 1 Cor. 14:3 (NLT) Wow! That's pretty simple isn't it? Strengthen, encourage, and comfort. Sounds like the heart of God to me. So let's examine a word of doom and gloom: does it demonstrate any one of those three characteristics? Obviously not.
But what about the prophets of the Old Testament? They certainly spoke doom, gloom, destruction and even death... let's look at the words of Jesus about this: "Until John came, there were the Law and the Prophets; since then the good news (the Gospel) of the kingdom of God is being preached..." Luke 16:16 (Amplified). In other words, there was a shift when John came and announced Jesus! It ALL CHANGED when Jesus arrived on the scene!
A Time for Love, Mercy & Grace
As for these current words speaking judgment and destruction, isn't it interesting that so many people are quick to come into agreement with them? Don't get me wrong - I do believe that there is a time when destruction will come to the inhabitants of the earth - since I believe ALL of the words of the Bible - but this is not that time. The problem here is an incorrect perception of God and his immeasurable love... not really knowing his heart.
We are currently in the "dispensation of grace" - the period in which God has set things right between us and Him through the ultimate sacrifice of his Son Jesus, and continues to pour out his agape (unconditional love), mercy and grace on all of those who will run into his arms. Yes, I do believe that there will come a day when this dispensation of grace will end, but that day has not yet come.
Common Sense Anyone?
If we could just put everything else aside in our minds for a moment and use our COMMON SENSE, does it really make sense that God would sacrifice his only Son to "put things right between us and Him" so that he could pour out judgment on us? It's simply ILLOGICAL! Moreover, it is exactly that type of warped thinking that the accuser - the father of all lies - wants us to believe so he can get us to agree with him and pave the way for his diabolical plans. This has been his game since Adam and Eve, and will continue to be his game - right up to the end. Let us NOT ever agree with Satan - on any level.
The Heart of God
Again, let's look at the HEART OF GOD as stated in the Word:
"This is how much God loved the world: He gave his Son, his one and only Son. And this is why: so that no one need be destroyed; by believing in him, anyone can have a whole and lasting life. God didn't go to all the trouble of sending his Son merely to point an accusing finger, telling the world how bad it was. He came to help, to put the world right again. Anyone who trusts in him is acquitted; anyone who refuses to trust him has long since been under the death sentence without knowing it." John 3:16 (Message)
Are you agreeing with Satan, or with the HEART OF GOD?
I am forced to ask myself, "How many folks really know or understand the heart of God?" Just look at the above passage and use common sense for a moment... "so that no one be destroyed." Jesus did not come - and allow himself to endure all that He did - to pave the way for God to "ZAP" people - and cities - right out of existence! Quite the contrary!
GOD IS NOT ANGRY WITH US ANY LONGER!!! Jesus took the judgment of the world on himself - once for ALL! "Christ suffered for our sins once for all time." 1 Peter 3:18 (NLT)
It is Possible...
Perhaps it is possible that the people who are receiving these visions and/or words of doom and gloom are getting pictures of what will transpire AFTER this dispensation of grace has past; to that I would say, "Use more wisdom and be more responsible when releasing what you're hearing and/or seeing to the world." Maybe the Holy Spirit is giving a "seer revelation" of things to come. However, if that is the case, the revelations are being grossly misinterpreted as "prophecy." According to my Bible, these words do not qualify as prophecy, and only serve to hinder the cause of Christ rather than strengthen it.
What to Do?
Instead of coming into agreement with doom and gloom, let's begin using our words to COUNTERACT the plans of the enemy in the earth during this dispensation. Speak PEACE to the fault lines! Speak RAIN to the dry land! Speak discoveries of new fuel resources to the scientists! Speak wisdom to the government leaders! Speak massive stimulation into the economy! Speak truth to the homosexual! Speak love to the abused! Speak healing to the sick! Speak prosperity to the poor! Speak blessings to the world and all of its inhabitants! Speak LIFE!!!
Jesus said, "I have given you authority over all the power of the enemy..." Luke 10:19 (NLT). Let's use it!!!
Love, Hugs, and Exponential Blessings to All!
