[revival-fire] God loves San Francisco

******* REVIVAL FIRE!!! *******

I sent this earlier, not realizing I needed to send this to the above email address.  It’s been a few years for me J

First, let me say I love what I have been reading about the outpouring going on in California.  I would humbly like to bring some food for thought into this discussion.  I was in the Brownsville outpouring from the second week -- in fact I missed the first week because I went to Toronto on Father’s Day weekend, so hungry to see what God was doingJ.  I live in Pensacola, so I was able to be there day after day, soaking it up and eventually helping by being part of the prayer team among other things.  One of the best things for me was the sessions that Dr. Michael Brown taught weekly, giving us the biblical foundations for a move of God and how God uses his people, whether they are perfect or not so perfect.  With that came a lot of teaching and understanding on church history, etc., that I found to be incredibly valuable.

I would disagree that God wouldn’t bring disaster to San Francisco because he is pouring out His Spirit there.  It might be quite the opposite.  Take for example, the Welsh Revival, which from all historical accounts that I have read, sounded completely awesome.  Fruit was seen and recorded for the historical record.  A few years later, World War I began. Perhaps God in His mercy sent the Welsh Revival to prepare his people, ignite the church and bring in the lost before a great number of people would be affected by it? Isn’t that what happened to Sodom and Gomorrah?  They had a literal “visitation” from the Trinity before God brought judgment?  Righteous Abraham interceded with God, pleading for mercy, because he had been allowed to stand in the council of the Lord and knew God’s plan for those cities. God listened to him, and would have pardoned them if there had been enough righteous people there.  I guess I see the San Francisco prophetic word differently.  Maybe the fullness of time has come and God has to do something about the situation, and He wants to avert the suffering by having the Church do their part in pleading (interceding), taking a stand and being a light in the darkness.  However, when God comes down creating a holy habitation and we have “seen” Him and had an up close, divine encounter and still continue in our stubbornness, we are held much more accountable and will come to know God as Judge, because of His great love for us. I speak from experience here, unfortunately.  In fact, my first serious encounter with God as Judge came because I was afraid to release a prophetic word that contained judgment (in part) that God had been percolating in me for months.  It was during the revival.  After a few months, God told me to release it and warned me not to be afraid (using the text out of Jeremiah 1:17).  I balked and days later I encountered the judgment He warned me about.  It was very intense, but I knew that it was because of His great love for me and others and that my fear of man was standing in the way of being obedient to him.  Let’s say I seriously learned obedience through suffering. Let me also say, I believe judgment can sometimes be averted.  Isn’t that what Lou Engle’s “The Call” is all about?

One other point I would like to make is that I would be very careful about being too critical of Wendy Alec, the person who gave this word.  I mean this as a general caution.  Francis Frangipane gives her a very good endorsement, and that is a big plus for me, because I have read his books, saw him speak at the BRSM meetings, and became acquainted with two of his children attending the church I was a part of during the revival.  He is a man of God who values Christ-likeness over gifting. (I say all of that because I want to define why it’s a plus for me – it’s not because he is famous.)  Of course anybody can miss it, and if they do, they will be held accountable for it, but she is a servant of God and perhaps she is just as grieved over San Francisco in her prayer time and not terribly enthusiastic about delivering such a serious word, yet has learned to be obedient to God.

Needing God’s mercy and thankful for it,

Deirdre
